International Internships
The Cambodian Center for Human Rights (CCHR) is a leading non-aligned, independent, non-government organization that works to promote and protect democracy and respect for human rights – particularly civil and political rights – throughout the Kingdom of Cambodia.

We rely on the support of motivated and enthusiastic interns who are interested in the human rights issues that CCHR tackles, and who are keen to gain valuable experience working in this area.

CCHR's international internship is truly international.  We have had interns from a wide variety of countries come and work with us in Cambodia, including: Australia, Botswana, Canada, England, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Scotland, Singapore, Sweden and the USA.

Internships

CCHR's international internships are available to those with knowledge of international human rights law and mechanisms who are:
  • Undergraduates who have completed at least 2 years of an undergraduate degree in law, human rights or development studies;
  • Post-graduates who have completed undergraduate degrees in law, human rights or development studies (strongly encouraged to apply); or
  • Post-graduates who have completed undergraduate degrees in another field, but who can demonstrate an interest in – and commitment to – human rights.
 Basic Information
  • Internships take place/located in Phnom Penh but can involve travel to other parts of the country.
  • CCHR is looking for applicants who are able to commit to a minimum of 3 months.  Applicants who are able to commit for a longer period are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Internship roles are unpaid.  CCHR is unfortunately not able to cover or contribute to any costs associated with travel arrangements, visas, accommodation etc.
How to apply

CCHR only accepts applications for the vacancies set out below and will consider applications for 3-6 months.

Unfortunately we are not able to accept everyone who applies, as there is significant competition for places.  Applicants must submit a CV and a cover letter expressing their reasons for wanting to undertake the internship and their proposed start date for their internship to internships@cchrcambodia.org.

Due to the number of applications that we receive, it may take us some time to reply to applications, but we will respond.  We encourage you to apply early to avoid disappointment, and allow enough time for you to secure funding to cover your internship as positions are not paid.

CCHR encourages applications from all backgrounds.
