Cambodia Laws
UNICEF has estimated that 89% of 15-24 year olds in Cambodia are literate, and 86% of females in the same age group are (2004 – 2008) indicating a significant increase in access to education. However, one of the many legacies of the Khmer Rouge period is higher illiteracy levels in Cambodia’s older population due to restricted access, in many cases none at all, to education. With this in mind, and the fact that it can sometimes be difficult to obtain printed copies of key Cambodian Laws and Legislation, CCHR is in the process of creating audio versions of many of them including:
• The Constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia
• Land Law
• Criminal Law
• The Anti-Corruption Law
• The Law of Appropriation
As the recordings are completed they will be made available as podcasts on this page, broadcast on the radio, and cds will be distributed to communities throughout Cambodia via CCHR’s Human Rights Network, Sexual Orientation and Gender Awareness and Human Rights Defenders Projects. They will also be made available to communities, and individuals, that receive training by CCHR, and attend Community Hearings and Public Forums.
